2020 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN PLUG-IN HYBRID COMPLETELY UNDISGUISED REVIEW – It presently believes like spring across most of the U.S., but it’s still winter months in Sweden. That makes it a perfect location for automakers to place their prototypes by means of freezing weather testing. The most up-to-date vehicle caught on Sweden’s snow-covered roads? The Volkswagen Tiguan plug-in hybrid.
2020 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN PLUG-IN HYBRID REVIEW
In contrast to most prototypes, the Tiguan in these photos was completely undisguised. And thanks to the prominent “PHEV” badges, there’s no debating which version we’re looking at. Compared to the Tiguan GTE concept, the production model appearance tamer and a little much less adventure-completely ready, but we generally like the appearance. The lower fascia has a bit of a Golf GTE feel that integrates effectively with the all-around design.
Based on the concept’s powertrain, expect the Tiguan PHEV to get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine creating 148 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Electric assistance must continue to can come in the form of a 54-hp motor up front and a 114-hp motor in the rear. In overall, the system needs to make about 220 hp and boost to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. In EV mode, the 12.4-kWh battery will likely be excellent for about 20 miles of range.
One point that isn’t crystal clear is whether the plug-in hybrid should come to the U.S. Volkswagen hasn’t stated. Given that the diesel scandal killed any chance of a Tiguan TDI, we’d wish VW would at the very least provide a fuel-efficient option, but you never know. Regrettably, we’ll most likely have to hold off until the established reveal to notice more. There’s a probability the Tiguan PHEV will show up in Geneva next few days, but our spy digital photographer feels there’s a far better opportunity we won’t view it until finally the Beijing Motor Show in April.Incoming search terms:
