2023 Alfa Romeo Tonale PHEV 2.0T Engine Specs
The 2023 Tonale will have two powertrain options. The new plug-in hybrid setup’s centerpiece is the 180-horsepower turbocharged 1.3-liter inline 4-cylinder engine that powers the front wheels. A 121-horsepower electric motor at the rear powers the rear. The 15.5-kWh lithium-ion battery powers the electric motor. Tonale PHEV comes with a six-speed manual transmission and Alfa Romeo promises more than 30 miles of electric driving range.
Tonale PHEV has three driving modes. Natural can be used for daily driving and Advanced Efficiency for pure electric travel. Dynamic allows for maximum performance with the engine and motor. The nonhybrid Tonale will have an all-wheel drive.
Alfa Romeo claims that the Tonale will have the same athletic driving dynamics and performance as its other models. The Tonale features a 13.6:1 steering ratio, an independent suspension front-rear, and optional adaptive dampers. These dampers can either be set to Comfort or Sport.
Tonale’s design is true to the concept. The headlights are U-shaped LED elements that frame the Alfa Romeo grille. The rear features a stylish full-width taillight that echoes the front’s three-piece lighting theme. The Tonale measures 178.3 inches long, making it slightly longer than a BMW X1 but still six inches shorter than an X3.
Interior features include a 10.3-inch touchscreen running Stellantis Uconnect 5 infotainment and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. Uconnect 5 will offer Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well wireless phone charging. The Alfa Connect app will allow owners to remotely lock, unlock, and start their doors. Tonale owners will be able to receive updates over the air.
Alfa Romeo claims the Tonale will be the first vehicle to receive an NFT digital certificate. It will keep track of vehicle data throughout the vehicle’s life and act as a certificate that the Tonale has been properly maintained and serviced. This will increase the car’s value and let future owners know what they are getting into. Alfa Romeo acknowledged that records are not kept by the NFT if you maintain your car yourself.
The Tonale comes standard with adaptive cruise control, an automatic emergency brake, and lane-keep assist. Traffic Jam Assist can adjust and direct the vehicle’s speed while on the highway.
