2023 Kia Mohave – Two options for an SUV capable of off-roading are the Telluride in the US or the Sorento in the US. Despite being different in size, both the Sorento and Telluride have unibody structures that aren’t suitable for harsh environments. For the more traditional, body-on-frame SUVs are still the best choice.
Did you know that Kia made a body-on-frame SUV under the brand Borrego in the US? It was pulled off the market in 2010 due to low sales, and it has never been seen again. It was rediscovered in Korea as the 2023 Kia Mohave.
2023 Kia Mohave Concept
Based on Masterpiece Concept 2019, the Kia Mohave has received a second facelift. However, it still uses the same platform and design as the Borrego. It has been updated extensively to meet current needs. This video from Asian Petrolhead shows what the US has done to this SUV.
The Kia Mohave is slightly bigger than the Sorento but smaller than Telluride. This explains the tiny cabin space and explanation by the presenter (6’2″) in the video. It is also slightly taller than the Sorento but this is normal as it rides on a ladder-frame chassis.
Another feature is missing from Mohave’s V6 turbodiesel engine. It can produce 253 horsepower (189 Kilowatts), as well as 413 pounds-feet (560 Newton-meters) of torque. Due to Korean regulations, the oil-burner now has a new device that reduces emissions. Korea also offers a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system with terrain modes. This SUV can handle different terrains which will be appreciated by off-roaders.
2023 Kia Mohave Pricing
