2023 Kia Sportage PHEV Redesign
Based on the fifth generation of the model, the Sportage PHEV promises to travel up to 32 miles (51 km) using one 13.8 kWh battery. The Sportage PHEV’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine is 1.6-liter and produces 177 horsepower and 265 pound-feet (255.5 Nm) of torque. It is paired with an electric motor that generates 90 horsepower (66.9kW). Although Kia has not yet mentioned the total output, it is likely to be similar to the system that powers the larger Sorento. It produces 265 horsepower (258 pound-feet) and 355 Nm (350 Nm).
According to Kia, it should take approximately 2 hours to charge the battery using the 7.2 kW built-in charger. According to Kia, the manufacturer also paid attention to the vehicle’s brake feel to ensure that the motor regenerative brake and friction brakes blend more smoothly. The model also boasts a higher rate of recovery from the regen than its competitors.
The 2023 Kia Sportage PHEV is set to go on sale in the US during Q3 this year. It will be offered in two trim levels: X-Line Prestige and X-Line Prestige. The latter adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and front, and rear parking alerts. The Sportage PHEV in X-Line trim comes standard with Kia’s suite Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which include forward collision avoidance and lane-keep assistance, driver attention warning, rear occupant alarm, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot collision avoidance, and rear collision avoidance. The plug-in hybrid also comes standard with full LED headlights.
