2023 Mazda CX-50 Touring Ute – Mazda might not be interested to join the thriving “lifestyle utes” segment, but we just saw our latest renderings for what a pick-up vehicle from the brand might look. Despite having been familiar with the Mazda BT-50 for many years, Americans haven’t had the chance to buy a utility vehicle equipped with a wing in their lifetime since 2009, when the Ford Ranger-based B-Series truck was retired.

In the US, the FWD-based light-ute market has grown from zero to two in twelve months. Thanks to Ford Maverick Hyundai Santa Cruz, and Ford Maverick, this has been possible.
The monocoque CX-50 was modified to fit the coupe utility. Based on its brand nomenclature and nature, we have given it the name CX-50 Touring. It is a combination of an SUV-style design with the simplicity and utility of a 2-door unibody, which is more focused on the outdoors. This rendering shows a two-door frame that has only two seats. The Santa Cruz and Maverick, which are four-door and five-seat vehicles, are great for families. The Hyundai offers more room in the tub.
From the front, the CX-50 Touring looks identical to its donor vehicle. The CX-50 Touring features large air intakes and Mazda’s latest headlight design. The CX-50’s broad haunches are accented by chunky wheel cladding and boxy guards. Both of these features carry over to the Touring model. A fixed tub like a Ford Ranger, Holden Commodore Ute, or Ford Commodore Ute would be located in the rear. This would allow owners to easily transport heavy items such as a bicycle and construction materials. The CX-50’s tail-lights and rear bumper have been transferred to Touring, along with the 18-inch alloy wheels, bonnet strips, and CX-50’s rear bumper. You can carry kayaks, storage units, and tents with a set of Subaru Outback-style roof bars.
It still features the Mazda 3-inspired cabin that was found in the regular CX-50. It has a 10.25-inch screen and a 7-inch semi-digital cluster of instruments. Two front seats with brown leather embossed are included. Next year, the CX-50 will be powered by a Toyota-sourced hybrid engine. Additionally, the Touring will be electrified and offered with turbocharged 2.5-liter petrol options. Unfortunately, plans are not in place to produce a ute-derived CX-50 in the USA – nor any Mazda pick-up trucks apart from the BT-50 – but we have our imaginations. These images may be motivational for the marque to develop such a car – if that were possible.

The BT-50 local body on frame BT-50 lineup also received a new addition, the 1.9-liter diesel XS version as well as a more luxurious SP range-topper.
