2023 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Wagen Review
The G-Class SUV from Mercedes-Benz has seen very few modifications since 1979. The major facelift of the Austrian-built 4×4 is planned for 2023. Motor Authority reports that Mercedes G class powertrains may include a mild hybrid system. This could be added to either the G550’s 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 or the G63. It is possible that the automaker will launch a plug-in hybrid version of this vehicle in 2023.
The mild-hybrid system will likely include the 21 horsepower/184 lb-ft electric motor that Mercedes offers in other models. The electric motor will be powerful enough to move the G Wagon from a standstill. It will smoothen the engine start/stop process and help to save fuel. It can also be recharged by using the regenerative brake.
Mercedes-Benz engineers are testing endurance with the new 2023 G Wagon. To keep the refresh secret, they are currently testing the SUVs with camouflage. The footage was captured by a journalist as the G-Class 2023 cruised along the Nurburgring’s streets. This footage clearly shows how Mercedes’ SUV will be updated by the 2023 refresh. It’s not surprising that G Wagon’s rear and front fascias are camouflaged. Mercedes-Benz has redesigned these panels. These headlights look similar to the second-generation (W463) G Class SUVs (2019-2022).
Many believed that Mercedes would include elements from the electric EQG into its 2023 production G-Class. The EQG concept included some interesting elements such as a square spare tire carrier that can be used to charge wall chargers, retro-futuristic solid chrome rims, and an LED lightbar that replaces the rubber rub rail. It runs the length of your SUV. The door panels in the 2023 G Wagon are identical to the ones in the 2022 model. Mercedes didn’t bother hiding them. The LED light bar is not visible. For the rims, standard 22-inch 2022 units will be used. They are available in satin black. You can choose from a round or a chromed spare tire carrier.
