2023 Mitsubishi L200 PHEV – Since 2015, the current generation of Mitsubishi’s pickups has been available. Given the increasing competition, it’s not surprising that the new model will be coming in the next year or early 2023 as the 2023 Mitsubishi L200. We know that the new model is confirmed, and there are many interesting innovations to come.
The overall design will be completely new and will include novelties in both mechanics and aesthetics. The most interesting aspect of the powertrain offering is still to be found. It could be quite different from what we currently have. This is especially true for electrification as the new generation will likely have hybrid powertrains.
2023 Mitsubishi L200 Redesign
Many new features are coming with the upcoming redesign. The platform is one of the most obvious things to think about, considering that Mitsubishi is now part the Renault Nissan Alliance. Two Japanese companies are working together to develop a new architecture that will be used for the new L200 and the next-generation Navara. The 2023 Mitsubishi L200 will likely be slightly larger, with a more refined chassis and setup. Some sources suggest that the rear suspension could be independent. We also anticipate a new design. We think the current generation is great, especially after 2019. Therefore, we expect most of the changes to be evolutionary. While the overall shape of the vehicle would not change, the front end would take design cues from the most recent models in Mitsubishi’s lineup like the Outlander.
The exterior design of the L200’s current generation is among the most appealing in its class. The interior is not as attractive. The interior of the current model isn’t very impressive, so we expect a lot from the next generation. The mid-size pickups have become more than utility vehicles. Every manufacturer strives to provide a comfortable and attractive cabin design. The 2023 Mitsubishi L200 should be the same. It will have a more carlike appearance, with more luxurious materials and more technology features. The new generation will be available in two versions, just like the current generation. The base models would have a single cab layout. Double cab versions will be available.
We live in an era of massive electricity, and this trend is also being seen in the pickup truck segment. We expect to see a few hybrid powertrain options in the Mitsubishi L200 2023. Officials are not yet clear, but it appears that the Japanese manufacturer will offer plug-in hybrid versions with either gasoline or diesel engines depending on which market they are selling. The Australian model could include a diesel-powered hybrid vehicle (PHEV), based on the current turbodiesel 2.4-liter, which is very efficient even without electric motors. However, PHEV systems would still be used in Europe and other parts of the world where emission standards are higher. Mitsubishi could offer something very similar to Outlander’s powertrain, but with a larger battery and more powerful electric motors.
2023 Mitsubishi L200 Date of Release
We are still waiting for information from officials. Unofficial reports indicate that the next-generation Mitsubishi L200 2023 will arrive in the second quarter of 2022, or the first half of 2023. The competition will be largely unchanged, however, with key competitors like Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max as well as Ford Ranger and Ford Ranger.
