The second-generation Peugeot 5008 will soon be given a major facelift. This facelift will enable the model to meet the challenges of its remaining commercial life before any generational changes are made. Next September will see the launch of the new 5008-2021. Peugeot is already working on the third-generation 5008, even though it is important to update the mid-cycle. We heard Gilles Vidal, Head Design at Peugeot, speak about the design approach that they plan to take with the next generation of 5008. Vidal believes that increasing practicality will be one of the key determinants of the development process. However, it is not the only one. The lion’s signature also has another goal: to make 5008 more “sexy”.
Interior
An internal source has provided us with new and exciting details that will allow us to clarify certain keys to the Peugeot 5008III. Internally, the code P74 is used to identify the third generation. It will be available in 5- and 7-seater versions. According to new information, the five-seater version will offer more space in the rear seats.

Peugeot hopes that the 5008 will be more appealing to the Chinese public by increasing the interior space. To give preference to North America and China, the original plan was to make the vehicle only five-seat. To avoid losing market share in Europe it was decided to offer the option of equipping the third seat.
Powertrain
The architecture of the third generation Peugeot 5008 shares similarities with the 3008 III. The eVMP platform will support it and electrification will play a major role. There will also be a 48-volt Mild Hybrid version. As an alternative, there will be plug-in hybrid versions of the PHEV (PHEV), which are more expensive but offer a better option. A 100% electric version will also be available.

You can configure the electric 5008 with one or more motors to produce a maximum power output of 250 kW (340 HP). Instead of the current EAT8 transmission, the plug-in hybrid versions will be equipped with a seven-speed dual-clutch automated transmission. The 1.5-liter BlueHDi diesel engine will be the only option, while the gasoline supply will revolve around a 1.2-liter PureTech motor.
