2023 Porsche Macan T – The Macan compact crossover from Porsche was its best-selling model in 2013. It’s not surprising that there’s a special model to commemorate the occasion. The 2023 Porsche Macan T features sporty styling and a turbocharged 2.0-liter I-4 engine that produces 261 horsepower and 295 lb. ft.
2023 Porsche Macan T Review
The Macan’s “T” designation is a result of the 911 and 718 model ranges. It typically represents a sporty, yet basic (features-wise), a treatment that could almost be called “budget-friendly,” if any Porsche could even be described as such. You can expect a more basic interior, with cloth seats and other performance options. The T trim is new to a Porsche SUV. Porsche claims the new model is authentic and offers a driving experience that’s both precise and efficient for touring.
In keeping with that theme, the Macan T’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine weighs in at 129 pounds less than the Macan GTS or S models’ 2.9-liter V-6 engines. These significant savings not only result in improved fuel economy but also improve the model’s agility and handling. Macan T now rides on 20-inch dark titanium wheels, an upgrade to the standard 19-inch Macan.
The Macan range offers Agate Grey Metallic paintwork, which is unique among the rest. However, 12 other colors can be chosen. Agate receives a unique contrast treatment trim in the fascia and roof spoiler. The new color treatment may make your car stand out from the Macan Joneses. However, it is worth considering even though the overall look is subtle and understated. The gloss black finish on the exhaust tips and surrounds of the windows is sporty. The all-black interior lacks dimension. However, silver stitching and vaguely retro-striped seat inserts help to give it some dimension. A heated steering wheel and front sports seats with eight-way adjustment are available. Standard updates from last year’s Macan range also carry over. This includes a larger, open storage area, a shorter gear lever, and a haptic-controlled central console.
Specs & Performance
The seven-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission is used to shift the four-cylinder Macans. Also, Porsche’s all-wheel-drive system is available. Macan T models have a higher rearward power split and more torque to their rear axles to accelerate out of corners more aggressively. Macan T models have been designed with an active suspension system and anti-roll bars to provide minimal body roll. For further handling sharpening, an optional T-specific torque-vectoring feature “Plus” is available. Like many Porsche special trims, the Macan T gets the Sport Chrono Package. It includes a dash clock, a steering-mounted drive mode switch with a Sport Response key, and a steering-mounted drive-mode switch. Porsche claims that the base Macan is faster than its predecessor. It can go from zero to 60 mph in just 5.8 seconds. This is impressive for a compact luxury SUV with four pots. Porsche claims the new Macan T can reach a top track speed of 144 mph, though it’s unclear if that’s an electronically-limited cap.
