2023 Vanderhall Brawley – Vanderhall Motor Works in Utah, best known for its three-wheeled roadster, has announced pricing for the Vanderhall Brawley. It will be its first four-wheeled vehicle. Although the Brawley is an all-terrain, rugged electric SUV, it is not considered an automobile in the USA. It also doesn’t have airbags or meets automotive safety standards.
2023 Vanderhall Brawley Review
It is impossible to deny the Vanderhall Brawley’s ability to conquer any terrain. The 18-inch wheels with 35-inch tires and 22-inch suspension travel give away this fact. Base Brawley does not have a roof, which adds to its rugged appeal. GT and GTS get roofs and windshields with wipers. The Brawley comes in a variety of variants, including an 11-slot grille and LED lighting. Base Brawley and GT versions are available in two color options, while the GTS can be ordered in all six color palettes.
All Brawley models come with four adult seats, each equipped with a 4-point harness and Bluetooth-enabled music. They also have heating and air conditioning. Heated seats are available on the GT and GTS. The dashboard has no other features. It houses toggle switches for various features. The instrument cluster is composed of three gauges, including the speedometer, battery level indicator, and what appears to me to be the gauge for optional Vidar optical radar.
The Brawley is equipped with four electric motors that can be controlled individually. This allows Vanderhall to call eCrawl an off-road mode. eCrawl comes with Hill Hold control, which allows you to drive through steep and slippery inclines or declines. Electronic features can reach speeds of up to 10 mph. Brawley GT’s crawl feature is accompanied by eTank which, as its name implies, rotates the wheels in the opposite direction to the other. This allows for a turn that looks like a tank and takes up very little space. Rivian also announced this feature for the R1T (Rivian called it “Tank Turn” and announced it when it wasn’t yet ready for launch).
Brawley GTS buyers can enjoy additional off-road features such as eCrab or eSteer. The first allows for a Hummer-EV-like crab mode, where all wheels move in the same direction. either, which is similar to all-wheel steering and a feature becoming more common in luxury cars, allows for all-wheel steering. This helps to reduce the turning radius by turning in the opposite direction from the front wheels.
NMC pouch-type batteries are said to have a ‘class-leading energy density. Vanderhall claims that a battery conditioning system will increase cold-weather range and extend the battery’s lifecycle. All models should have regenerative brakes as standard. The GTS will optionally come with a larger battery pack that provides 200+ miles of range.
