If you wish to spend more, however, the electric workhorse can be configured with two sliding doors.
2023 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo Redesign
Prototypes were shown with barn doors but the ID was not. The Buzz Cargo shown here has a large, similar-looking tailgate to the regular model. The commercial version has a slightly wider load sill (1,938mm/76.3in) as well as a lower drag coefficient (0.29). Both have the same wheelbase of 2,988mm (117.6in), and both can stretch to 4,712mm/185.5in. They are identical in width at 1,985mm (78.1 inches).
You can optionally equip the partition wall with a window, or an opening that allows for items to be placed. The cargo area can accommodate 650 kg (1.433 lb), and it is large enough for two euro pallets. The vehicle’s total weight is 3,614 lbs (6.614 lb) and its cargo area measures 3,900 Liters (137.7 cubes).
To secure a load in the rear compartment, VW has placed lashing rings on the floor and sides. The smartphone has five USB-C ports, with one located in the rearview mirror mount. Two cup holders are located under the infotainment for both cargo and passenger models. The commercial version however has two additional cup holders in front of the A-pillars.
Two-seat and ID models are the best. Buzz Cargo will provide a 1.4-liter storage area between the seats. It is a removable container you can easily remove and put back in. VW describes the cargo area as having wood flooring and the front has a “robust” floor covering. This is the higher-spec version, with a two-tone appearance. However, the base van has a monochromatic appearance and amazing 18-inch steelies.
You can add a variety to the cargo model. You can get exterior ambient lighting, an electric tailgate, matrix LED headlights, and a folding trailer wbar. It should be standard to have a rearview camera, but it isn’t. You can also add heated and electrically folding mirrors. On wheels larger than 20 inches, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity can be added.
The rear electric motor powers the passenger car. It produces 201 horsepower (150kW) and 310 Nm (229 lb-ft.) of torque. The ID. Buzz Cargo’s 82-kWh (77 net) battery pack can be charged at 170kW. The range is not known. They have an 11.1-meter turning radius and a speed limit of 90 mph (145 km/h).
