2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV – 2024’s Chevrolet Silverado EV may be an early arrival to the electric-pickup scene however, from our initial impressions, it has been worth the waiting. Rivian, Ford, GMC along Tesla have set ambitious goals for range, power, and towing. To meet them m, Silverado EV can meet them. Silverado EV offers up to 400 miles of range, 664 horsepower, and as much as 10,000 pounds worth of towing power.
2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Price & Release Date
There will be two trims offered from the beginning. The costs Chevy estimates are $105,000 to the full-loaded RST displayed and $39,900 for the WT that is geared towards fleets and base models–do not include destination costs, which are $1695 for the non-electric version of the Silverado. Chevy claims that these two prices are the bookends of the Silverado’s EV pricing range and that the upcoming trim levels will fall in between.
2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Redesign
Batteries, Range, and Performance
Silverado EV is roughly the same height and length that a standard crew-cab short-bed Silverado and all the difference between the two trucks share is the beginning of the name. This Silverado EV isn’t even assembled in the same manufacturing facility. It’s instead built on an elongated version of the Hummer EV’s GMC underpinnings. This means it has front and rear suspensions that are independent along with the front electric motor and rear (although only two of them instead of Hummer’s 3) and a 200.0-kWh battery pack that has 400 miles of range.
Similar to Hummer EV, the Silverado EV comes with an electrical structure that can charge at up to 800 voltages and 350 kW. This permits it to increase its 100 miles in 10 minutes according to Chevrolet. It’s important to note that the significant range figure is only for the model with 24 inches of wheels that are offered on the first trim level, which is the RST. The WT comes with 18-inch wheels and while Chevy claims that it’s the WT will come at 400 miles range the company isn’t yet discussing the impact of these wheels on estimates of range.
We’re not sure about the price range for the WT of $39,900 however we anticipate it to be similar to the Lower trims of the HummerEV which GMC is currently estimating will range between 250-300 miles. The WT is capable of 615 pound-feet torque, the RST has an option for the drive called “Wide Open Watts” (WOW is that right?) which can deliver 780 pound-feet of torque. In this configuration, Chevy claims that acceleration from 0-60 mph is better by 4.5 seconds, which is more efficient than Ford’s claim for the fastest F-150 Lightning. Although Chevy hasn’t stated the amount of power the RST has in its standard mode, it’s not less than the WT’s output.
Do you remember you’ve seen the Avalanche and its clever folding Midgate? It’s back with the Silverado EV, however, Chevy claims that, other than this, the vehicle’s obvious resemblance in appearance to Avalanche is not coincidental. The new model is now known as”the MultiFlex Midgate, the wall between the bed and the cab is lowered with a 60/40 split to extend the bed’s length, while still leaving space for a rear-facing passenger. The owners can also take off the glass on the rear and place it in the folding area which will open the door even more. Chevy claims that the Silverado EV’s tonneau cover offers weatherproofing but we didn’t get to notice it in the unveiling.
The Silverado EV is offered in Chevrolet’s MultiFlex tailgate. With a variety of options, it will extend the bed’s length and also act as an additional step. When the bed measures 5.9 feet in normal configuration, taking out the midgate and placing the tailgate with a bed-extending setting increases the length to 10 feet and 10 inches. Do you need more storage space? A trunk in the front can hold three suitcases of a large size.
Looking into the RST is a stunning interior with a roof made of glass and an all-white, red, as well as blue color scheme. The column-mounted shifter can be used to provide more storage space inside the central console and houses many USB outlets. The GM Super Cruise driver-assist technology comes with the RST. It lets you drive hands-free on pre-mapped freeways, and employs cameras to monitor the attention of drivers.
The enormous 17.0-inch center screen, as well as the 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster, featured attractive graphics. The surrounding controls are a mix of capacitive and physical. The WT features an 11.0-inch central display as well as an 8-inch display in the gauge cluster. Towing ratings are 10,000 pounds with RST and 10,000 pounds for the RST while 8000 pounds are for WT. The figures are comparable to that of F150 Lightning’s claimed towing capacity however, Chevy claims that a forthcoming Silverado EV version will have the capability of towing 20,000 pounds. Conversely. the Silverado’s payload ratings of 1200 pounds in the WT and 1300 pounds with the RST are less than Lightning’s ratings.
Similar to Hummer EV, both the WT and RST come with four-wheel steering, which helps with low-speed maneuverability and towing at high speeds. The RST also features air springs that lift and lower the vehicle by 2 inches. Contrary to GMC’s Hummer model, the RST does not have locking differentials or CrabWalk features. It is possible to get more off-road features in the future version. Similar to like the F-150 Lightning, the Silverado EV can supply electricity through other outlets. It can provide up to 10 outlets, which includes a 240-volt power outlet within the bed. It can offer 10.2 kW to anything from camping gear or your home to an electric vehicle if you have the correct cable.
