2024 Volkswagen ID.2 Electric Crossover – Renault will continue to launch its iconic 5 hatchbacks in 2023 as an electric hatchback that is cutting-edge for the city. In 2023, it will do the same with its R4 model. The manufacturer will not make the reborn Renault 4 an ordinary hatchback. It will be taller and more distinctive than the 5.
2024 Volkswagen ID.2 Electric Crossover Redesign
The platform on which the 4 will be built will be the same as that of the 5 Renault CMF-B EV platforms. They will likely share motors, batteries, and other components. Renault is likely to phase out the Zoe, which was a highly successful model once they both are available on the market. The Zoe, which was extensively revised in 2019, may be removed from the lineup after the 5 models debut in 2023. The Megane eVision production version will be the first fully-electric Renault. It is expected to debut in 2022. The manufacturer will release a slightly larger EV based upon the same CMF EV underpinnings. We don’t know if it will be a crossover, but we do not have any information about it.
Volkswagen will increase the size and variety of its ID range by making models smaller and more spacious than the ones it currently sells. The ID.2, the first model expected to arrive, is the ID.2, which is unsurprisingly a small crossover and not a hatchback. We initially expected Volkswagen to launch a small-sized city hatchback as an electric replacement for its Up!. However, AutoExpress claims that the first vehicle to be launched will be the high-rider battery-powered model. It will be available alongside the ID.1 hatchback before 2025. However, the crossover is the most anticipated to arrive first.
The ID.2, as well as ID.1, will be supported by a reduced version of the MEB platform called MEB Entry. Both are expected to be manufactured by SEAT in Spain. They will be shorter than the existing MEB models and will come with smaller batteries, either around 30 kWh or 45 kWh. They should still have a range of nearly 200 miles in real-world conditions.
2024 Volkswagen ID.2 Electric Crossover Price & Rumors
Volkswagen will also be working hard to bring the ID.1/ID.2 costs down to about EUR20,000. This is why these two most affordable ID models are so late to arrive. Sources also point out that the ID.2 and possibly the ID.1 will feature identical models with SEAT badges and Skoda badges, and will all be manufactured at the same plant in Spain. Most likely, it will be the Barcelona facility. VW also plans to construct a battery manufacturing plant in Spain, specifically in Catalonia near the facility that will house the new ID models.
