2025 Tesla Model 2 Everything We Think Know About

2025 Tesla Model 2  – Tesla’s “baby Tesla”, which was officially announced in 2020 by the company, may have been put on hold until Elon Musk admits that during Tesla’s Earnings Call 2021. However, that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Musk stated that the company is not currently working on the $25,000 compact EV. We will at some point. But right now, we have too much on our plates. He stressed that “at some point, there will be.”

Although the timeline is not clear, our illustration partner made a speculative render that shows the automaker’s first attempt in the compact hatchback segment. It hasn’t been named officially yet. However, it is often referred to as the Tesla Model 2 although some have suggested the Model C moniker.

Tesla has not revealed any details about its upcoming EV, which will be the entry-level model in its range. Only one visual reference that we have to a Tesla hatchback is a sketch that was revealed in 2020 in a call for submissions regarding a new model being produced in China. Elon Musk also promised a market launch within three years, which was originally 2023. He also revealed the estimated price. Although that is unlikely to happen now, due to delays in other projects such as the Cybertruck, we doubt that a compact Tesla Electric Vehicle (EV) will be available before 2024. We’ll use a hypothetical 2025MY as our illustration for now.

Exterior

Our speculative renderings suggest that the new Tesla could have an aerodynamic five-door body style with a coupe-style roofline and large-diameter tires. Many design elements from the Model 3 and Model Y may find their way into this compact hatchback, including a similar window line, pop-up door handles, a grille less face, a panoramic roof, LED headlights, and LED headlights mounted to the front fenders. If Tesla plans to make an SUV, the baby Tesla could inherit some crossover styling cues that are very popular with this target audience.

It will likely keep the Tesla minimalistic interior design, which features a large infotainment screen in portrait orientation. The interior will have plenty of space for passengers and luggage thanks to the dedicated EV architecture. It also features a two-box silhouette and a small bonnet. Although Tesla could have added the yoke steering and strange shifting mechanism that was introduced in the Model S / Model X earlier in the year, it is likely they will opt for something more mainstream.

2025 Tesla Model 2 Price & Release Date

If Tesla keeps its promise of a $25,000 base cost, the compact hatchback will be cheaper than many of its main competitors in the segment as well as smaller EVs such as the European-market Peugeot e208 and Honda e superminis. It will cost the same as ICE-powered C-Segment hatchbacks such as the Volkswagen Golf at this price. This is the beginning of a new era. The model will use 4,680 batteries from Tesla, which are expected to reduce production costs by half and provide a longer range than conventional batteries. Elon Musk stated that the minimum acceptable range for a Tesla product should be at least 250 miles (402km), which seems like a reasonable number for the entry-level model of the upcoming Tesla and one of the best in the compact segment. The baby Tesla will come in more expensive versions with longer ranges, perhaps matching the Model 3 Long Range’s 352 miles (566km) of travel. A performance-oriented version will be offered with more powerful dual electric engines that can deliver hot hatch-shaming performance. High-end trims will likely receive the most recent ADAS tech, including Tesla’s Autopilot. However, it is unlikely that the model will be fully autonomous like Elon Musk hoped for a few decades back.

The first Tesla compact hatchback will be made in China at the Shangai Gigafactory. This is for the local market as well as global exports. There are reports that Tesla could produce the first compact hatchback in Germany at the Shangai Gigafactory, or in the US for North America. This would allow it to qualify for $12,500 in incentives for locally produced EVs. However, Tesla must permit workers at its US factory to be represented collectively by a labor union. We have updated our story to reflect announcements made during Tesla’s Earnings Call for Quarter 4 and 2021 in Jan 2022. Musk stated that Tesla has placed the development of the $25,000 EV at hol.
